A touching Poem.

A strong touching poem on “Drink and Drive”. Must read this, and specially if u have that bad habit of drinking and then driving.

I went to a party Mom,
I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom,
So I drank soda instead.
I really felt proud inside, Mom,
The way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, Mom,
Even though the others said I should.
I know I did the right thing, Mom,
I know you are always right.
Now the party is finally ending, Mom,
As everyone is driving out of sight.
As I got into my car, Mom,
I knew I'd get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me,
So responsible and sweet..
I started to drive away, Mom,
But as I pulled out into the road,
The other car didn't see me, Mom,
And hit me like a load.
As I lay there on the pavement, Mom,
I hear the policeman say,
"The other guy is drunk," Mom,
And now I'm the one who will pay.
I'm lying here dying, Mom....
I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me, Mom?
My life just burst like a balloon..
There is blood all around me, Mom,
And most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say, Mom,
I'll die in a short time.
I just wanted to tell you, Mom,
I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, Mom.
The others didn't think.
He was probably at the same party as I.
The only difference is, he drank
And I will die.
Why do people drink, Mom?
It can ruin your whole life.
I'm feeling sharp pains now.
Pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me is walking, Mom,
And I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying
And all he can do is stare.
Tell my brother not to cry, Mom.
Tell Daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, Mom,
Put "GOOD BOY " on my grave.
Someone should have told him, Mom,
Not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom,
I would still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, Mom.
I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mom.
When I needed you, you were always there.
I have one last question, Mom.
Before I say good bye.
I didn't drink and drive,
So why am I the one to die?

Help Others- A short story

Just sharing a small short story with a strong moral of helping others, the story is a self created work of my own, and is the original version..
And here it goes like this...

“ I am  a 50 year old men just attended one of my daughter’s marriage and did kanyadan, my eyes filled up her memories, hey! though she is not my own daughter but she is not less than my own.. I still remember how she entered in our life.
22 years back when i was 28, lived with my wife in one of the cities of India.. One day when i was driving back to home i could not resist at one of the eateries, and i parked my car then and i thought of having some food here, I entered and ordered “Pav-Bhaji” soon i got my ordered stuff ‘Pav-bhaji’ and as i was eating i found a small 3 or 4 year baby girl coming close to me and said “Uncle, bhook lagi hai, mujhe khilao na (Uncle, I am hungry, please feed me some food)”.. I looked at her and found she is very innocent, and cute.. Her nose dripping out and some dirt on her clothes.. she seems to be a beggar for the world, as i was wondering what to do, she again said “Bhookh lagi hai ( I am hungry)”.. This time i could not resist and i asked for another dish and i shared some Bhaji and Pav with her..

After eating i asked her, “Beta, aapka name kya hai (what is ur good name)” She replied “ Ankita”

I enquired further “ Beta, mumma kaha hai aapki ( Where is your mumma) ” The girl replied “ Mummy- kahi kho gai (My mom is lost somewhere)”
I said “ Papa(Father)” she replied ‘Papa bhi kho gaye (lost)..”.. I felt mercy for her..
I asked “Beta, papa kya karte hai” She said “Pata nahi, kahi job karte hai (Dont know but he worked somewhere)” and then she started crying and screeming “Mummy, Papa, Mummmmyyyyyy!!! and flow of tears appeared from her eyes..
I wipped her tears with my fingers and said, “Hum aapko aapki mummy- papa se milwayenge, aap roti kyon hoon.. aapka yeh uncle hai na (Dont worry, i will take u back to ur parents, i am here, your uncle)”
After saying this i pondered on my own words, and thought what to do next, without a minute thought i said “chalo beta, uncle ke ghar chalo, jab tak mumma nahi milte aap mere ghar rahonge, hum aapko bahut pyar karenge, aapko gudiya bhi dilayenge (Come baby, come to our house, till then we search for your parents stay with us, we will love you and get you a barbie doll too) ”

The sweet baby girl after a moment gave the world’s most beautiful smile, which gave me intense happiness, her cute smile still remains in my heart and that smile dwindles in my heart…
I took her in my lap and after paying the money i took her towards my car, got her seated beside me, that is beside the driving seat and drived towards my home..

The bell rang as i stood beside my home with sweet baby girl in my laps, my wife opened it and was shocked, for a moment she remained mum and then said “ Yeh, kaun hai (Who is she)”..
I said “Ankita-  iske mummy papa kahi kho gaye hai, bechari bhooki pet idhar udhar khane ke liye bhatak rahi thi ( She is “Ankita” – a pretty girl who lost her parents, moving on the way empty stomach to find some food)”.

She replied “ Aur tum utha laye, tumne to puri duniya ka theka le rakha hai, ab yeh kaunse nahi musibat hai (And you took her to our home, have u taken the responsibility of all such nasty things of the world)..”

I got aggressive “ Yeh tumhe musibat dikh rahi hai, dekho kitne pyari hai, tumhare pass dil hai ki nahi (You look at her as a nasty thing, dont you see how pretty she is, dont you have a heart? why can’t you take a mercy for her?)..”
She said “ Kitne pyari hai??? dekho kitni gandgi lagi hai, tumhara pura dress kharab kar diya, ab ise khud hi dhona ( Oh see, how lovely she is, she got ur new suit dirty, now who the hell will wash this, better u yourself will take care of her and also wash your this dirty suit, am not going to touch it anymore unless you wash it out)”

The girl hold me tight on my neck and started crying with fear. I hold her back and patted on her and told ‘ Aunty bahut sweet hai beta abhi gusse me hai, tumko  bahut pyar karengi (AUNTY is very sweet my child, dont worry, she will take care of you and will love u”
My wife said “ I damn not bother about your sheets, and take this hell out of my home”
I said “ Got maid or what, its my final decision she will stay here, i will search for his parents, report in police until their parents are discovered she will stay here, and u will take care of her”
Wife- “Damn, this is what i was expecting, u will get busy with your work and i have to care this girl, and damn this will effect our peaceful night sleeps”

I said “ dont worry darling, the matter will be resolve soon, take her for a bath, until i get some clothes for her”
I drived my car back to purchase clothes and toys for her, and as i drived back home..
I discovered my wife playing with her, and the girl looked much happy and sweet, cute.. She changed the girl’s cloth after taking her for a bath, and know i was relaxed as my wife finally took the charged.

That night i could not sleep well, as i have to take care of two sweet girls, my wife who was struggling with sweet baby girl, and the baby herself”
The next day i took holiday and got complaints registered in police station, also enquired nearby police station to discover related complaints from girls parents side.. but returned in disappointment”

2 weeks went off, and i still struggle for finding her parents, my wife gave me double pressures as she was warring of what if we failed to search her parents, a lifetime care probably”
Despite efforts everything failed, i even thought of getting girl admitted to school, but could not disclose this idea to my wife.. the girl by now stopped missing her parents, but still cried some evenings remembering her mom, dad..

2 more weeks went off, and one fine evening the door knocked, i was at home and opened the door to discover a lady standing out, the girl was sleeping in bed-room, and my wife in kitchen...
I looked her at a moment wondering who she may be, until she said “ Hello, few  days back you got  a girl somewhere in city and brought home?”

I said  “ come in, and please be seated” I said “Its true, but how do u know that”
She said, “ I just came to know from police station wondering for my daughter, can i see her?? May be she mine daughter”

I said “ Off course and i felt tremendous happiness, followed by worries of loosing her”.
The lady quickly walked in room and discovered that she is her own baby, and lifted her in arms, she became so happy returned kisses to the baby”
The baby girl woke up to discover her mother, she too was very happy”..
My wife joined this happy moments..

Soon she got ready to take her away from us, i called the police so that everything is fine is confirmed, so that the girl goes to her original mother”
Police brooked in and soon the matter was settled, and she took the baby away.
Me and my wife cried and for baby after she went off taking the girl away.. but after a week our life became normal, and 10 days or so the lady came back to visit our house.
She said the baby is crying for you people and i cant resist much now so i took her to meet you people, we were so happy, i can’t believe she is infront of our eyes, i took her in my lap and my eyes got wet, this time my wife also took her and she too wiped her tears”
The lady said, we live in near by city, “15 Kms from here, and u must visit our home sometime and we are extremely thankful for your care to the baby and all pain u faced over for finding her parents..
I said this was my duty as a true Indian, Our culture says to help others at the time they require help.. My wife said “ I am proud of my hubby, it is he who brought her home, and who opened my eyes to love the sweet baby”..

From that day, we got good friends, in terms of girls parents and we continued to visit each others day, soon we too got our baby home and guess she was also a girl..

Our relationships continued even well today, that sweet girl cares much for me, even today..
I am one of her best uncle she said, and the care which we took for her just for a month, is highly returned by the girl..
I heard some noise coming and wipped my tears, as my wife came in discovering the pain in my eyes after her marriage.. she said she has justed shifted her home, just as i walked in your life.. she would be happy with her married life, don’t worry for her…
This is how a small story comes to an end..

If you have read it with heart you know the cause: Save a Girl Child.

Dowry System- A short story.

Hello friends, I think story and poem’s are the best way of fighting against any social issues, so I have decided to write few stories against some social issues, will like to begin with Dowry system prevalent in India and other neighboring countries.

Before beginning with dowry story I will like to share some facts and figures, so that it can be realized how serious the issue is

At least 1 woman will die in a dowry related attack in India every hour.

In 2004, Amnestry International reported that at least 15000 women were being murdered each year in India, in dowry related cases. Other grassroots women’s organizations in India estimate the number to be much higher. The Ahmedabad Women’s Action group for example has estimated that at least 1000 women were killed each year in dowry related homicides in the state of Gujarat alone.

And American television journalist, Lisa Ling while investigating dowry murders in the city of Bangalore was informed by local NGOs and hospitals working on such cases, that in that city alone, there could be as many as 1200 cases each year.

dowry

Defining What Dowry is?

Dowry is a transaction between two parties involving cash, or other valuable articles such as precious metals, gems, clothing, appliances, real estate, or goods for entertainment, made as a condition for entering a marriage contract. In the majority of communities in contemporary India, the groom's party demands dowry from the bride's party.

In many cases there are trade off’s between the two parties, bride’s party gives money and expects good amount of gold in return of the money to her daughter, and cash money at many stages of marriage’s, and groom’s party try to get every bit of money used in marriage’s.

Many people just throw up lot of money on their marriage, and turn out to be financially week after the marriage itself, which according to me is a bad-deal.

In various cases, the bride’s are literally kind of sold specially government officers, and engineer's, the boy’s side put up a condition that those who can give certain amount of money as dowry, can only come to their house for marriage.

And The Story Begins………..

Hi, My name is Teena, At age 19 I have seen so many things in this world, which normally a girl is never exposed too. Yes I have seen brutal and harsh realities of the world. I am sharing my story with you just so that it never happen again with any other girls, and their parents too should also know how dowry can damage the life of her daughter or of someone else.

I still remember my golden day’s, when i was just 14. I used to ride my bicycle and went to school, which was 3 Kms. from my home, i was from lower middle economy class, my father is a farmer with little land and we were happy with our small house in a small village. The life at that time was much beautiful, i still remember my hanging’s on Mango Tree’s with rope tide’s. (Jhoola’s). I use to swing at fastest pace. I use to run with all other gals and play game’s with them and other younger’s. My elder brother even use to scold me for my fun loving attitude and for not concentrating on my studies. But i was not that bad in studies but my brother was extra-ordinary in studies thats why my family use to scold me as i was comparatively dull.

I was in 8th standard, but i was fell grown up from my appearances, I was enjoying changes in my body and as i was much beautiful boys use to stare me but there was one boy in class X, who took my nerves away, i don’t know was it love or attraction at that time, but today am sure that was not love.

One day i approached to him, and proposed him. He appeared to be a kind of shocked but within minutes he told “I Love You too”, yes perhaps he told so because i was much beautiful.

We now use to spare as much time as we can, and some time we use to exchange kisses and all. I even visited his home for no such big reasons and found they were good people, one fine day after school we met and he took me to his home, for my surprise there was no one, and we crossed all the limits.

Our life was going good, and few more such incidents happened till the day came when i realized that i was pregnant, Yes we missed prevention on our day 1, as i was truly not much aware about sex. Soon my mom realised this as she noticed changes in me, she scolded me a lot and finally i revealed all the things, my mother told to my dad and they decided to marry us.

My family put huge pressures on boys side and finally they agreed to marry, I was very happy the day we got married, and i went to my hubbies family with some tears in my eye’s which no girl can resist when leaving her home, and so i was not a different case.

Few days went very good and soon i became mother of a beautiful Girl, Yes she was a girl and she looked like me, with some appearance of her father. In this way one year and six months went off.

Now i was 16, and i got the news am pregnant again, My hubby wished that we should get a check up and if she’s a girl we will kill her. He had an excuse of no other source of income except the land which he cultivated. Yes after X, he had left studies and me too after marriage. But somehow i escaped check up’s but could not do it for a long time, when i had to move  hospital  because of some pains, and where they got me tested and results were positive, that means its GIRL again.

I had heard talking them, that they will kill her, but i with my full resistance saved my daughters life, and i became mother of the second daughter.

We were having good days, except some odd days when my husband use to drink and beet me, but i don’t know when i became used to this. I don’t know where my life was taking me too.

Know i grew to age 17 or so, and my hubby was of 20. One day when i was working with preparation of food’s I found some unfamiliar guests at home. I could hear them talking about marriage, and i wondered who’s marriage??

That day i could not get but later i realized that a girl’s parents came there to marry her daughter with my husband and after this day everyone’s behaviour towards me changed, all of a sudden i became burden to my family and my husband. He even beaten me ruthlessly many a times.

Then finally one day my husband told me “ I have been caught in to a trap by you bitch, you deliberately proposed me and gave birth to a child to marry me for free, you and your family cheated us, i don’t wont to live with you, so get out of my house”

This was not the end, he continued “ You do not have a potential to born a Male child, you have some problems so you give birth to two girl child in a row, I am going to marry another girl who could provide me a Male child”

Finally i decided to fight and shouted the Biology behind that a male is responsible for the sexual orientation of a child not the Fe-male, and I also clarified that he had excepted me, and he was never forced to do anything, instead he was the one who took the first move, and i just could not resist……. and It was you... Leave it..! Damn leave it.

That day I cried for whole night did not ate a bit, and  no one even cared for this, I cried in sheer pain remembering my parents and my brother, why did i felt in love, why did i gave up studies, why did i became pregnant, and why i married him?

My husband all of a sudden became nice to me, and I soon found why so, he had a proposal, that my family should pay 1 Lakh Rs. as dowry or else he would marry other girl who’s parents are ready to pay Rs 1.5 Lakh.

I went in to a dilemma, my elder brother was studying in a Boarding school for better perspectives and i know how my parents took pain to manage his studies and in midst if I ask for such a big money, How can they manage, I know they don’t have any extra pennies…

I will not ask them and will not inform them whatever happens to me, was the final decision I took.

Then from that day onwards violence on me increased day by day, and i have been toned and tortured daily, I never came to known when i surrendered to them,  Sometimes i think why don’t i have lodged a police complaint?

Finally, one day i came to know about the marriage date’s, and the preparations began, I was wondering why the other Girl’s family is marrying him.. After a lot of efforts i came to know that the Girl’s father is a childhood friend of Boy’s father and they told them, their wife(Me) is a devil and i am eating up his life.

The day of marriage was coming nearer and i was loosing my nerves, i was wondering what i can do? should i lodge a police complaint?

Before i could take any decision they locked me in a room, they gave me one or two time food and they beat me for dowry too.. My husband even rapped me whenever wished and in this way i became a prey to him and his family.

Still few days passed on and one day my husband accompanied by her mother came in my room, he grabbed my hair and started running out, i have to follow him, he took me out of the house, and i was shouting help, help….. help.. Many people looked at me but none came in front of us to save me..

I listened a lady telling “ Family matter why should we interfere”

Till they took me to a some distant room which was a storage room near our land.

They took me inside and locked the room from inside then my husband’s mom shouted kill this bitch, we don’t need her anymore. tomorrow is your marriage and we don’t need her. My husband took out a bottle full of acid and told me to drink it voluntarily.

I completely went in to shock and refused, i hided myself below the bed, as the room was closed i could not run out. He caught me up. His mother opened the bottle and said “Tu aese nahi manegi, kamini, dekti hoon aaj kon bachata hai tujhe” (You will not understand in this way, lets see who saves you)

I tried hard give my best to get out, but my hubby soon tied me with big threads(Usually used to tie a buffalo). i was unable to move they tied my legs and hands.

My hubby took the bottle and opened it. He brought it near my mouth. I was shouting “Koi Bachao, bhagwan ke liye chod do, mujhe maaf kardo, me ghar chod ke humesha ke liye chali jaungi, kabhi nahi aungi, bachao pls, chod do” (Please save me, someone help me, i will leave home for ever, will not come back please leave me for god shake).

soon i started coughing because of smell of acid, my husband shouted “You will go to police, we can’t take the risks”

He all of a sudden inserted the bottle in my mouth and tried best to insert acid in my mouth, i was helpless, soon it came in my mouth and neck and i was burning with pains, i cant tell you the pain which i was suffering from, he ruthlessly kept pouring him, his mother kept on encouraging him and he kept on, soon my stomach started burning with pain, i listened his mother shouting “Sali dahej nahi degi, dekti hoon tujhe kaun bachayega” (will not pay dowry, lets see who save’s you). and in this way i felt unconscious.

They left me there, considering i am dead, i found myself conscious late night that day. i found myself closed in the room, and it was going to be morning soon, i have to run up, else they may come up for burning or throwing up my body, as they might have considered me death, is what i was thinking, but how?

My body was badly damaged, i could not speak a word, my body right from mouth to stomach to still below was burned, my skin got wrinkles of burns, it was even hard for me to move, but i have to get out somehow, else they will kill me again..

I found a window, which had wooden closed lids, i moved there and opened it. Thanks no grills there, i have to jump this window, i tried my best but failed two times to come to a position to jump, third time i succeeded I jumped down, i remain fallen for a minute or so and then started crawling.

I kept moving until i reached near a government health centre, i moved on to reach and as i reached there, i went unconscious.

When i came back to consciousness i found myself undergoing treatments, my mom-dad sitting beside me, and bottles of medicine’s injected.

I just looked at my mom and my eye’s stared tearing, she looked at me and started crying too, i tried to speak but i could not..

Police came there and lodged an FIR and my mom told they took the boy and his mother under police arrest on same day, i.e marriage day, and they could not marry the boy.

Days went off, and i just cried every moment in hospital, i had a desire to speak but i could not, more over the constant pain was killing me. I have lot of things to speak but how? Emotions drained me from top to bottom and thank god my mom understood every bit i want to speak. Really mom’s are great, they can understand every bit of things, what their child is feeling. Thank god for gifting such a sweet mom, when i looked back in my life, i realized that my mom-dad are the only people in support of me. My elder brother was still not informed, else he would have run up from his exams which were going off, yes by now he was doing engineering, and i am so proud of him, damn why i didn’t study?

Finally, after a month i got discharged, i got my voice, but still i was very week, i was advised to remain of liquids as my digestion was not yet good, and the burns of acid on my skin remained there.

My husband and her mom could not get the bail and they are behind the bars, is what i was informed. My brother came back after exams and we cried together..

In this way days went off, i got back both my daughter’s back from my husband’s home, even they were happy with my step. I was much happy after getting my daughter’s back in my life.

Now today, i am preparing for my IIT exams, and my daughters are grown up, one of 4 years and other of 2 years, six months. My mom is saying they will take care of her. I am ambitious about my future.

Few things i like to suggest everyone, specially girls like me.

1. Never fall in love at early age, at least be 21 to take any big decisions or at least 18.

2. Always try to remain self dependent.

3. Get as much education as you can.

4. Always seek you parents opinion before taking any decision, and think of their advice 100 times.

5. Never let someone, that includes your husband and family too, to kill your Girl child, at whatever cause.

6. Never become a prey of your husband and family, fight against domestic violence.

7. Report to police they are your friend.

8. Love the person who really loves you, not the money which your side is giving as dowry.

9. Never give or take dowry and do not permit your parents to do so.

10. Help other girls and guide them so in future there would not be any “Teena (Me)”.

11. A dowry can even affect you though you might have not given it, just as in my case, as the other girls family were giving dowry i have to suffer. So fight against this system.

12. Take a pledge for not giving and taking dowry, and be proud off. Here is the link to take the pledge, i hope you will definitely take the pledge.

Akshaya Patra- Assuring food for every school going kid.

Hi.

I am feeling so good for this..! I have just sponsored food for 50 School goingstudents through Akshaya Patra.

There can't be a better feeling in the world then this, when you donate something for a cause as big as this one.

You feel so good when your hard earned money goes for a noble cause, that too which assures prosperity and growth of someone else.

When your money can feed a kid who just would perhaps have not gone to school if someone like you have not sponsored for his food.

Yes, until one's stomach is not feed one can't imagine of education, and when food is assured, you can have a dream to be educated.

This is a story of millions of people in India, who could not get ample food and hence they are restrained from education.

Akshaya Patra is a small step towards the prosperity of millions of poor people.

The only way of coming out of vicious circle of poverty is education.

You will perhaps consider education as a basic need of human being but certain unfortunates can't have education just because they could not feed their stomaches.

Many people loose education because of extreme cases of poverty, many are dropped out from schools for this every year.

Many leave schools, because their family could not sustain their education cost.

Many have to leave school just because they have to feed their family somehow.

Though in India, education is Free in government sponsored schools, many are dropped out or could not even reach school because of education related other expenses like Food, Uniform cost, books cost etc.

But there are many ray of hopes who are living for this social cause.

Few of them are as listed below

1. Akshaya Patra - It sponsors food for school going students.

2. Give India - It tries to collect donation for almost every cause.

3. Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan - for achievement of Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE).

4.  Nanhi Kali -  Issues concerning the Girl Child.

5. Project Crayons -underprivileged and physically challenged orphan children

6. Nischay Girls School -  Education of under privileged girls

7. SARD - Society For All Round Development - Empowerment of minorities

8 Deepalaya  Education for children and economically deprived.

9. Anjani Foundation -  Causes of the needy, Poverty and Hunger Issues.

10. The Akanksha Foundation - Less privileged children.

These are few of the many NGO's of India, working for noble cause, I have listed few big names only, which have their own running websites so that one can go through each of them for more information and donations.

Let me talk about Akshaya Patra today.

Hey..! This Video tells most of About Akshaya Patra Story, I insist you to watch.

Akshaya Patra is now more then 10 years older organization.

It has now its presence in over 8 states of India.

And it assures food for nearly 1,253,266 everyday and numbers increasing day by day.

As people like you and me donate for such a noble cause.

I insist you to Donate whatever you can for this social Cause, You may Donate Your Valuable money for such a big cause by clicking here.

You money will go for noble cause of development of Humanity.

I insist everyone to donate for humanity for any of the social responsible organizations they find apt or i have listed.

You will have a better feeling after donations, as you could see the smile on some others face.

With these word i like to end up..!

"A Rain is not called rain, unless it rains equally on every head,
A Smile is not a smile, if it is not equally distributed on everyone's face"

Thank You...!

Best Regards,
Navneet Singh Chauhan.
